Dual-Wield Vs. 2-Hand Users
If you look at the prices in the charts, one thing you'll notice is that the pricing is the same for those who are dual wielders and those who use 2-handers. Going with one type over the other won't yield any better pricing, so if you plan to just have one set, go with the one that benefits you the most in regards to play style and specs.
Efficient Gearing Path
Because of how the new gear upgrading system works, you will likely be earning the Favor and marks faster than you can spend them. As an example, if you start out at Prestige Rank 40, you'll have the entire Tier 1 set before you even get to PR50. This also means that you have another 10 levels to go before you can start upgrading to Tier 2, leaving a lot of stuff to waste Favor on.
Essentially what you want to do is keep yourself close to the cap, at least within the last level or two before you can start upgrading again. Since you can't hold more than 300,000 favor at once, there's really no reason to stay completely capped out. Instead, use some of it to buy consumables or other things just so you can keep from losing a lot due to the overflow.
When it comes to the daily and weekly PvP quests, you will want to save them up once you get close to hitting one of the higher brackets (PR60 or PR70). This is because those are the method of earning the marks needed for upgrades, and you can always rank up just by joining the PvP matches individually. This speeds up the gaining of marks, thereby increasing the speed of which you can upgrade to Tier 2 and Tier 3.
It's important to note that you must have a previous piece of gear before you can buy a new one. For example, you need to have the Tier 1 pieces before you can buy Tier 2, as they are required as “trade-in” items. More or less this just means that in addition to the prices listed in the charts above, there is also a requirement of having the gear piece in your inventory.
Note: you will need to un-equip each piece of gear before you can trade it in!
Quickly Purchasing Tier 1 PvP Gear
While you aren't able to wear the new PvP gear until you are level 60, that doesn't stop you from purchasing it as soon as you have enough Favor to do so. You can easily get your entire Rank 1 set before you are even high enough level to use it. This is really up to preference though, as earning the Rank 1 early won't help with getting Rank 2 faster.
If you do go ahead and purchase your first set of gear before hitting level 60, you can store it in your bank until you're able to use it.
