Video Game Hall Of Fame Inducts These 5 Games

The Strong Museum has announced the inductees for this year's World Video Game Hall of Fame. Donkey Kong, Halo: Combat Evolved, Pokemon Red and Green, and Street Fighter II have all received the honor this year.
They came out of a group of 12 finalists that also included Final Fantasy VII, Windows Solitaire, Mortal Kombat, Myst, Portal, Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, and Wii Sports. Those titles could be considered for inclusion next year.
This is the third wave of inductees to the museum's Hall of Fame, following rounds in 2016 and 2015. The winners were announced today during a ceremony at The Strong museum in Rochester, New York.
The two previous classes for the Strong Museum's World Video Game Hall of Fame included Doom, Grand Theft Auto III, The Legend of Zelda, The Oregon Trail, Pac-Man, Pong, The Sims, Sonic the Hedgehog, Space Invaders, Super Mario Bros, Tetris, and World of Warcraft. These are on permanent display at The Strong museum.
Games are recognized for a number of criteria, including "icon-status," longevity, and geographical reach, as well as impact on design and development on other games, pop culture, and society.
