The graphics are 3D anime style that is both a pro and a con.
First and foremost, I must say that is an interesting take on the sidescroll genre of MMO's that is a defintive improvement over Maple Story and those of that genre. And a slightly disappointing version of a typical 3D game.
Graphics: The graphics are 3D anime style that is both a pro and a con. The artistic quality is a step above the average level anime-esque, but is hampered by the fact that is a side scrolling game. The characters have a most decided 'bobble head' feel to them that is a step over the line. The customization options are about average for most f2p games, but there are more colors for hair. While I can easily say the game was 'pretty' and as long as one didn't watch their character too closely to get distracted by why they didn't just topple over.
Gameplay: The Action rpg kinda of format is a new twist to me and certainly lends the game a certain appeal, but.. the lack of a targeting system is a MASSIVE down note. More often than not the enemies were finding that exact stop right behind my 'butt' that would allow them to attack me while leaving me unable to fight back, the only option was to run away and try to get back into a sweet spot that worked only half the time. For those who have a passion for fighting games with button sequences to achieve the proverbial 'smackdowns', this game is a must try for you. But for fans of more traditional point and click destruction you might find it as frustrating as me.
Sound: Not anything to write home about, that's all that really needs to be said.
Movement: The controls can not be called anything but awkward, for those with more experience this might not be so apparent, but for someone who console games are not a major part of existence than you might spend more time struggling to hit a bad guy than actually killing them. The rest of the controls are fairly standard.
Personal observations: The game offers 4 'classes', but esentially there are only two long range and close range and the differences are only apparent in how much dmg you'll end up taking. I did not play all that deep into the game but did try all four versions of basically the same char.
While the artistic value is a step above some, they certainly aren't enough to play this game for the sheer beauty of it. The
Preview was clearly an attempt to strain a single server channel to the breaking point, but the lag wasn't bad at all, for those ppl who have lag issues this is game for you to try. The lack of targetting is a definant achilles heal for this player.
The Melee aspect of the game is appealing, and the ability, to 'sidestep' an attack is a nice twist.
The graphics are good enough to warrant a good long look.
The early leveling did not go quickly 2 hrs for only 5 lvls all but insures that come the high lvls, this game is guaranteed to be a true-blue GRINDFEST more than worthy of an Asian marketshare.
My overall recommendation is that if you are bored give this game a whirl, but don't let your expectations to skyrocket based on the artwork, as I am guilty of doing, because this game certainly seems to lack anything akin to 'depth'.
