Peace Through War, Citizen
BrotherMagneto: We pick up where we left off last week with Katewell describing a rather disturbing conflict: we're supposed to kill the fairies we're trying to make peace with. Perhaps this is what passes for peacemaking in the Valkyon Federation: destroying the enemy's will through destruction. It's an interesting hint of the federation's more militaristic leanings-and philosophies. In-character, Anung can't help but wonder if the federation ideal is somehow different than the federation in practice... and why.
Killing Two Stones with One Bird
BrotherMagneto: We set off into this section of the Fey Forest, a slightly darker and denser place bursting with centaurs and fairies. We've got two birds to kill with one stone (okay... three stones): centaurs for manes and blood, and fairies, who the centaurs employ as guardians. Centaurs are no pushovers when you fight them individually. They have a much higher knockdown rate than other monsters we've faced so far, and unless you have an area-of-effect attack you can easily be pummeled and poked by the pixies and eventually overwhelmed. I forget that Anung's whirlwind ability takes some MP to charge, so my first fight is pretty lackluster-I'm staring at the centaur as it stabs me, wondering why my right-mouse-button doesn't work and what that "not enough MP" message means.
It doesn't take me long to figure it out though, and soon enough Anung is wading into groups of fairies and swatting them down with one whirlwind apiece.
