Sekhmet is the goddess of war and the daughter of Ra.
Many years ago before the fall of Atlantis, near what we now know as Valley of the Kings, resided a small group of people that were brought together by their worship of Sekhmet. Sekhmet is the goddess of war and the daughter of Ra. These worshipers loved her because it was said that her very breath created the deserts in which they lived in. A nearby barbarian tribe came upon this lion-goddess’ village and out of fear, the barbarian tribe declared war. The fearless leader of the Sekhmet village knew he was greatly outnumbered, however to honor their goddess he would not simply resign to die without a fight. The men and women of the village dressed for war and fashioned makeshift lion heads to honor their goddess. No one is quite sure how the Sekhmet Village won that battle, but it is said that upon seeing their devotion, Sekhmet bestowed unto the Village leader an item which gave him great power. Though the fearless leader fell, the village lived on to prosper. He was buried as a king with the blessing of Sekhmet and hailed with highest regards. As years passed the village slowly dispersed to major towns such as Cairo, spreading their word of Sekhmet and their traditions. Now, the descendents of the Sekhmet villagers are honoring their ancestors by creating beautiful garbs that resemble the battle gear worn on that fateful day.
