Guild Wars 2: MMORPG + MMORTS?
Naoroji at Guild Wars 2 Guru translated an interview from a Dutch magazine regarding Guild Wars 2. A lot of awesome tidbits were unveiled, racial abilities, underwater exploration and solo, for instance. But The most impressive detail is RTS elements will be added into World PvP.
The World PvP Maps bear a resemblance to RTS-maps and give you a chance to play different roles. You can conquer stone mines, which will then deliver stone by caravan to your catapults, you can attack and cut off caravans of the enemy, you can operate as a scout and inform the rest of hostile movement, you can man watchtowers and defend, or you can just run up to a lost PvP'er and teach him a lesson.

- Four playable races and every race will have their own Racial Abilities.

- Solo is available You will be able to advance your character to the maximum level without ever joining a group if you so desire. Most content will be designed in a solo-friendly way, though often with mechanisms for scaling up in difficulty when more players are involved. But what makes solo won't actually be solo is that You'll have the possibility of leaving other players out in the rain, and go out and explore with AI-henchmen and/or your Companion.
- Underwater Continent is the new attractions.
Lead designer Eric Flannum said:"In a lot of games, water is a hostile environment where you constantly have to look out for running out of breath. We want to encourage fun and exploration underwater, however."
