At that time, EQ2 Plat Extended existed as a separated service to the original EQ2. In December 2011, EQ2 Extended and EQ2 finally merged into the same server and became free-to-play. Now players with free account can choose from 8 classes and experience the game play content to level 90.The third Ever Quest game which is codenamed Ever Quest Next is now under development inside SOE. Very little about the game is known, but the game is likely to release on PS3 and PC.
