Did Balance Make Champions Online Suck?
Superhero theme, fully customized, Nemesis system and etc. These are what Champions Online is proud of. All of these features seemed to bless the game a bright tomorrow. But if you have viewed Champions' New Patch Destroyed the Game? , you may have different ideas. Now a writer of bsn pointed out the game's balance suck. He thought that the game doesn't provide enough content, or quests to meet its level set and it became boring after the "balance" of in-game powers.
The only thing they kept the same (well they say they reduced it a bit) is the god-awful retcon (respec) system and its crazy costs. Now I am not naïve here. I realize some powers were possibly too powerful for an MMO but I kinda figured from all the sales pitches and stuff Jake Emmet said that that was the point. But that is no matter, I admit myself that things like regeneration were a bit too much, hell I have it on my toon and still think it works great. No the problem is that there are a lot of powers in the game at the moment that just do not work or do what they are supposed to do and the cost to change them is too much. The problem is that reducing the amount of exp missions give now creates that hateful leveling gap that you always get in a game when devs decide to pull a stunt like this.
Champions online has advanced with many difficulties and problems since its birth. If you still remember, problems occured in the open beta and then it faced the complaints of players about its discounted subscriptions offer. Now it reduced the missions in the game. I just hope that the game could live longer.
