Blizzard Worried About Fans' Overly High Expectation for Diablo 3
High expectation may followed by big disappointment - it has been proven by games like APB, FFXIV and so on. Although Blizzard's upcoming action RPG Diablo 3 isn't likely to be a big disappointment, the game may not be able to live up some fans' very high expectation. Blizzard expressed their concern recently and the community manager Bashiok hoped excited fans to lower their expectations.
On a thread at battle, Bashiok wrote "On a more serious note, I too worry that we won't be able to meet the expectations people have built up for themselves. Part of my job is managing people's expectations, so... eh... stop it. Stop thinking about how awesome this game could be. Just imagine it's a new M. Night Shyamalan movie. Sure Sixth Sense was amazing and Unbreakable had it's moments, but this right here is the sequel to The Village ... or The Happening ... or Signs ... or any of the movies besides the two I first mentioned. So just like, lower those expectations, but still definitely buy the game please, and everything will be just fine. K?"
Fans' desire and expectation for Diablo 3 is understandable because Diablo 3 is a huge success and it's too good. It's easy to make a sequel but it's hard to make a good sequel, and it's extremely difficult to make a sequel of a legendary game. So don't get mad if Diablo 3 isn't what you expect.
